Babasaheb Purandare Died at 99 and Political Leaders Express Grief

India’s one of the finest historians and authors, Babasaheb Purandare passed away this Monday morning (15. November 2021) at Dinanath Mangeshkar Memorial Hospital in Pune.

He lived a wonderful life for 99 years. According to the hospital administration, Purandare was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, where he was later put on a ventilator after his condition had gone overcritical.

It was told to the media that Baba Purandare had fallen in the bathroom of his house. After that, he was moved to the hospital.

After the news of his death, his fans across the country expressed deep sorrow. Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced a funeral with state honors for our great historian.

At the same time, BJP President JP Nadda along with PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief on Twitter saying ” I pained Beyond Words” over the death of Babasaheb Purandare.

Home Minister Amit Shah posted a photo with Babasaheb and said, “I had the privilege of meeting Babasaheb Purandare Ji a few years ago to have a long discussion.

His energy and thoughts were truly inspiring. His death is the end of an era. Condolences to his family members and numerous admirers. May the Lord give him a place at your feet. Peace.

Who was Baba Purandare?


Babasaheb Purandare is not only one of the popular historian-writers, but also a theater artist, he is well-known for his work on “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj”.

Baba Purandare wrote so many books from the life of Shivaji that got popular amongst students, teachers, and even normal folks, to his administration and also on the forts of his period. Apart from this, he also directed a popular play on the life and leadership style of Chhatrapati- Jata Raja.
